Sushi and Plastic Food

February 13th, 2007 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Shara and I went out the other night to run some errands. We went to the Livin (a big home store with groceries and furniture) and I was finally able to get a full length mirror. There is no way I would be able to fit it into the Mini and her car is so much bigger than mine. So I got my full length mirror and a garbage can that holds four different bags (they’re totally crazy about recycling here) and afterwards we got sushi from a conveyor belt place. They had some pretty good stuff…we tried a bunch of new kinds of sushi and then we decided to get dessert. There was an ice cream cone on the belt and Shara informed me that the guys in the kitchen kept replacing it with a new one so it didn’t melt. I just nodded and encouraged her to take it. She picked it up off of the conveyor belt and took a lick OF PLASTIC FOOD. She immediately dropped it on the counter and we both busted up. I think the Japanese thought we were insane. I made her put the plastic food back on the belt and the waitress, who had obviously seen what had just happened, came rushing over asking if we wanted ice cream. We both got some and let me tell you…my guess is that the real thing tasted much better.
